Mayhem

Well, even though I'm not quite sure we were ready, we've started to foster again.  Of course, we're a sucker for a sad story too.

Meet Mayhem, our newest foster!  He was pulled from a shelter in Jefferson County to be used at Jefferson College for Vet Tech students to "practice" on.  He hadn't been adopted by the end of the semester, so he faced going back to the shelter (which, was NOT a good thing).

He's been a handful - including already having a severely sprained should muscle, but he's a lot of fun!  He's a very quick learner and loves to do things for treats.  He chews on toys, but doesn't destroy them!

My first Christmas!

Sleepy Mayhem - it's not often we see this face..

So handsome!

How can you resist?!

The Rainbow Bridge....

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Author unknown...

As most of you already know, we sadly had to say "see you later" to our beloved dog, Paco (good bye is too permanent and we know that we will see him again).

The past couple of weeks were very rough on him and our family, and we couldn't allow him to be in pain any longer.  We miss him more than anything and can't wait to see him again at the Rainbow Bridge one day.

Here are some pictures of him - at happier times when he was well.

Ultrasound!

We had our 20 week ultrasound on 11-11-11!  It was fun getting to watch the baby move around.  Best of all, we found out IT'S A BOY!  He didn't seem to like the ultrasound and was bucking around all over the place!

Meet William:

The tech commented on what a pretty spine he has.

Femurs.

That's a big foot!

Big gun!

Another big gun!

Vacation!

Jeff & I were lucky enough to go on vacation at the end of October with some wonderful friends!  We traveled via cruise ship to Grand Bahama Island, where we stayed in a resort for 3 days and then we cruised back.  It was a great time and I'm glad we got to do something like this before the little one gets here.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from our trip:

 Jeff on the cruise ship.

Jeff and the coconut he FINALLY found!

Beach that was right outside our resort.

The view from our room (if you leaned way out over the balcony - otherwise it was just rooftops).

A neat wall I found down near the shopping area.

One of the many, many lizards Jeff was determined to catch (but he never did - though the local people thought it was HILARIOUS that he was chasing them around!).

Sunrise on the beach the morning we left.
